About the program

This session will focus on the unique issues of international families, with an emphasis on practical solutions to structuring, income tax, and transfer tax planning. The seminar will emphasize useful techniques for, emphasizing unique circumstances relating to Mexico, Canada, France, and Germany. Participants will receive instruction on tactics from-the-trenches that they can use in their practices.

 

About Brent Nelson
Brent W. Nelson is a Partner in the global law firm Rimon, P.C.  He represents U.S. and international individuals, families and financial institutions in their complex tax, estate planning, and family business matters. He hosts the popular Wealth and Law Podcast, co-edits the Arizona Estate Planning and Probate Handbook (Thomson Reuters), drafts relevant legislation, and frequently speaks and writes on estate and tax developments. Brent is an ACTEC Fellow and is licensed to practice in Arizona, Colorado, and Wyoming.

About David Lopez-Monroy
David joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management after running a successful tax, consulting and cross-border business practice for over 20 years with BeachFleischman PC, one of Arizona's largest and most prominent accounting firms, where he was a partner.  At BeachFleischman, David started the firm's international tax practice and led it to become one of the fastest growing segments for the firm.  Prior to BeachFleischman, David was with Ernst & Young LLP.

In 2021, David joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management with the objective of providing comprehensive financial guidance to clients.  By teaming up with other highly experienced financial advisors, combined with David's background, the team provides a strong hub for clients with the ability to coordinate with their attorneys, accountants and other members of the client's advisory team, with a family office type service offering.  This approach provides a unique, multi-faceted, holistic team, catering to high net worth and ultra-high net worth families.

Over the years David has been very active in the community having served in leadership roles with various organizations such as Ronald McDonald House of Southern Arizona (Past President, Past Treasurer), Carondelet Foundation (Past Treasurer), Salpointe Foundation (Past Board Member), Kino Border Initiative (Past Treasurer, Past Board Member), Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce (Past Treasurer), and Nexus Executives (Current Member, Past President, Past Treasurer).
